McDonald’s, the Gym and Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

Thank you all for your encouraging words and prayers. I hesitated to post yesterday’s journal because I know that after Carmen is gone, we will wish for just one day with her again. Even a really, really hard day. I sure am glad that we will see her again and then have eternity with her, happy and whole! For now, we will enjoy the moments we have with her.

Carmen was spitting up blood this morning but I think maybe a new tooth is coming in. She is drooling a lot too. There is no way to look in Carmen’s mouth as she BITES! New York Grandma can attest to this! Carmen’s Hospice nurse is coming by today so hopefully we can figure out what is going on.

After posting yesterday, I decided that I would get out of the house with the girls. It was a perfect day and we decided to go to McDonald’s. My plan was to be home by 1pm but we managed to get to McDonald’s at 1pm! Took me awhile but it was worth it. Lauren played and played with a little girl on the play ground. Another MOPS mom was there, so we had a good conversation.

This morning the night nurse stayed till 10:30am so I took Lauren to school (Dave usually takes her to school in the morning) and then went to the gym. I then went grocery shopping and on my way out, got a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. Heather over at http://whittakerwoman.typepad.com/ recommended it and WOW, it is good!

Edited to Add: If you don’t normally drink caffeine, ask for the decaf! I was jittery all day!

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, dessert in a cup, worth every calorie!

I’m so glad that you have the comfort that you will be with Carmen for eternity. How difficult it must be for people who don’t have this hope and see death as separation forever.
I’m also glad that you’ve had some opportunities to do enjoyable things (I think the Latte would be especially enjoyable). Once I was at Starbucks getting some plain decaf coffee and the cashier came over to me and gave me a pumpkin spice latte. She said someone had ordered it and she accidentally made it decaf and I was the only person she remembered ordering decaf. It was really good.
Let us know what the Hospice nurse thinks about the blood in Carmen’s mouth.
    Love, Mom

I am not much for Starbucks ,too expensive, ( I’m a cheapskate) but that does look good. Glad you enjoyed it. Have a great day. In Christ, Joe

Oh, gosh, ask for the decaf! I drank that at 11am and then at 11pm I was still jittery! Next time I will definitely be getting decaf! (I don’t usually drink much caffeine.) It was REALLY good!

Well – - up until now I have definitely NOT been a coffee drinker – - that does NOT include mocha drinks (as in mocha moolatte from Dairy Queen, mocha hot coffee, and the clones) or mocha ice cream!!! However, I had the 3rd and 4th migraine of my entire LIFE this week (could it be the beginning of a new school year??? or being an OLDER age????) so – - I went down to the cafeteria and got a coffee (for the caffeine – a friend had already given me aleve). They had french vanilla creamer – - WELL – - – - I am seeing the light – i.e. why people drink coffee!!! Had another one this morning (didn’t wait for a migraine :)). I am thinking this could become addictive! HELP!!!

Can anybody tell me if there is a redeeming reason to drink coffee every morning???

    Signed,
    A Possibly Converted Tea Drinker

P.S. – Don’t worry, Dave – - I won’t keep any Starbucks gift certificates – - they are still yours!! Your dad tells me Starbucks is too strong – - I’ll stick to their deserts :)

Answer to NY Grandma: Without that shot of caffeine my eyelids will absolutely not stay up and my brain does not function. Coffee clears the fog of morning and sets the mood for the day. You don’t want to be around me until the coffee has done it’s little miracle.

I am also a huge fan of the pumpkin spice latte…I had my first one of the season two weeks ago and to make a quick run to starbucks after I read this blog last week :) Thank you for the inspiration! I usually don’t get the chance to sign guestbooks, but I want to let you know that we’re always checking in on you and absolutely love your website! You have a beautiful family and are amazing parents….how much more creative can you get with your family fun nights! We definitely plan to use some of your ideas! Fish night sounds like fun :) Love Kerri, Tim, Elise and Eden
